Type is everywhere. Fonts overtake billboards, store windows, magazines, and menus. Every print publication, website, movie, advertisement and public message involves the creation or selection of a fitting typeface. Typography defines the aesthetics of blogs, social networks, and infographics and can be applauded or often mercilessly mocked.
This new engaging episode called “TYPE” from the Original Web Series “Off Book” features interviews with typeface designers, graphic designers and infographic artists who all outline the importance of selecting the right font to convey and provoke a particular emotional response, feeling or message. They continue to talk about building an identity in messaging, imagery, mixing colour and type.
This seven-minute documentary expresses the significance of typography in a wide range of media, expanding our definition of art and making us realise that even if we don’t often see it …type is everywhere…we’re obsessed!
