Today is Bastille Day, and we hope you’re wearing your beret…

The oldest and largest regular military parade in Europe will be held on the famous Champs-Élysées avenue in Paris, fireworks will illuminate the Eiffel Tower, and plenty of champagne corks will be popping throughout the day!

Bastille Day is a French national holiday, which commemorates the storming of the Bastille of July 14th, 1789. For French commoners this revolt was the first step to founding a republican government, and a historic first in France’s royal history.

Today, July 14th, is a day where the French will enjoy a délicieux picnic feast with family and friends that goes well into the evening to celebrate the occasion, bon appétit!

So…in the spirit of French independence, be sure to pop open a bottle of fine champagne, enjoy a macaroon, croissant, or crêpe and have a magnifique Bastille Day!
