Two leading technology companies, the UK’s El Technologies and Soma Analytics from Germany, have joined forces to create the smartphone app ‘ Xpression’ which accurately tracks mood over time by using native features of smartphones to analyse acoustic patterns and detect when their owners are feeling happy or stressed.
By monitoring tell-tale emotional traits such as pitch, intensity and frequency, Xpression (which is currently being trialled in healthcare settings) is set to revolutionise the way business owners, therapists and GPs monitor their subject’s ‘mood’ when they think no one’s looking!
